Ven. Olande Ananda is a leading Theravada Buddhist Monk in Sri Lanka since 1975. He was born in Amsterdam in 1948 and was ordained as a Buddhist monk in Sri Lanka, with meanderings in India and Hinduism, Yoga and Meditation.on 21st September 1975 at Pagoda Nugegoda, Sri Lanka by Most Ven. Davuldena Gnanissara Maha Nayaka thera, who passed away on 3rd Aprill 2017, and who was the All Sri Lanka Amarapura Nikaya Chief Prelate (Uttaritara Maha Nayaka Thera).
He claims he has a soft-spot for Tibetan Buddhism through his previous lives’ Tibetan conditioning. He is a Bachelor of Economic Sociology from the University of Amsterdam, and has also received education from the Abbot of Kottawa Nagaranya.
Ven. Olande Ananda Thera has been a member of the Buddha’s Light International Association from Taiwan/USA, Member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the non-Chinese speaking Co-ordinating Committee; also Ven. Ananda has been a member of the INEB – International Network of Engaged Buddhists and attended several of their international meetings.
Ven. Olande Ananda is also a member of the NWBT, Network of Western Buddhist Teachers.
Ven Ananda teaches Buddhist meditation all over the world, since 1975 in Sri Lanka and since 1979 in various countries, such as Germany, Holland, France, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, South Africa etc. He is well-known in Sri Lanka and worldwide as a veteran in conducting meditation sessions.
Presently, he is the resident meditation teacher at the Pagoda Meditation Centre in Nugegoda.
